This is the best.

I seriously love this drink in the summer. 1. because it's so dang good and 2. because most of the ingredients (herbs) can be found in my garden. This is not your traditional lime margarita; it's a fancy upgrade. We call it the Herby Margarita (you'll see why soon). It's kind of a combination of a homemade margarita and a gin drink my neighbor makes. Yes, it's more steps than just pouring margarita mix and tequila into a pitcher, but it's SO worth it. To truly enjoy the herby margarita, it must be served on the rocks with lots of ice in a mason jar and a bendy straw. I don't make the rules.

Like most things in my house, this drink is best served in a mason jar!

the recipe

[makes two herby margaritas]

Ingredients

  1. 2 lime wedge
  2. kosher salt (for the rim)
  3. fresh cilantro
  4. mint leaves
  5. cucumber, sliced thin
  6. 4 ounces good tequila (I prefer casamigos blanco)
  7. 1 ounce vodka (I prefer Tito's)
  8. 4 ounces simple syrup, homemade or store bought
  9. 2 ounces fresh lime juice
  10. 2 ounces fresh lemon juice
  11. ice

Instructions

  1. For your glasses: run the lime wedge around the edge of your glass and dip it in a dish of salt; set aside.
  2. In a cocktail shaker or large mason jar, add 6-8 cilantro leaves, 4 mint leaves (torn in half) and 6 cucumber slices
  3. Pour in the tequila, vodka and triple sec
  4. Mash everything together a few times until it smells herby and amazing
  5. Add the simple syrup, lime juice, lemon juice; fill with ice
  6. Cover and shake like an official bartender
  7. Fill cups with lots of ice, stick in a few cucumber slices if you're feeling fancy
  8. Pour deliciousness into both cups, add a sprig of mint, a lime wedge and a straw, and enjoy!
