Technically, this is Ann Jarzembowski's marble cake.
But it seemed ridiculous to put such a complicated name with such a simple cake. Ann was my Grandma+Grandpa Demski's next door neighbor when they lived on Wood Street in Chicago. According to my Aunt Connie (my dad's baby sister in their family), Grandma Demski made this cake "approximately ten million times" during their childhood.
This cake is easy and delicious. When I bake a cake like this one, where I really do put my love into it, I always end up asking myself why I don't make homemade cakes more often (instead of cheating with the box mix). Of course, with three kids, a dog, and a firefighter in our home, box cakes mix happen (often). BUT, when I want to make a homemade cake for my family, this is on the top of my list.
Thanks, Grandma Demski. And thank you, Ann!
